Who we are
The Hugh Green Foundation is a family foundation that proactively seeks to walk alongside, support and partner communities, organisations and initiatives making a positive difference throughout New Zealand.
Inspired by his own experiences of poverty during his childhood in Ireland, Hugh and Moira set up their foundation in 1998.
The areas we focus on are:
- Advancing innovative medical research
- Reducing poverty
- Increasing education opportunities for our young learners
- Improving health outcomes and health equity
Our Trustees
The Hugh Green Foundation is led by a board of Trustees, made up of senior Green family members and Michael Fisher. NextGen representatives and family members also support our work.
We currently have two Patrons – Moira Green (Founder & Patron) and Bob Narev (Patron).
NextGen
The NextGen fund was set up in 2020 and grants Hugh and Moira’s 10 grandchildren the opportunity to support their family legacy and give to philanthropic causes they collectively support. NextGen donations currently focus on grants to charities in community development, and youth mental health and wellbeing. NextGen select ‘early-stage organisations’ in need of support, which enables the NextGen team to help facilitate growth from a grassroots level, and develop key long-term relationships with the charities.
Our Values
Compassion, Community, and Partnership underpin all our work.
The value of connecting, sharing, and collaborating alongside our partners and initiatives helps us build high trust relationships.
