Our Impact

The Centre for Brain Research is located within the University of Auckland and is New Zealand’s largest provider of medical and biomedical research, and internationally recognised for its neuroscience research. The Hugh Green Foundation has supported the Centre since 2010.

Mātai Medical Research Institute runs a ten-week summer internship programme which provides students in STEM and the health sciences with the opportunity to be involved with cutting-edge projects in a region of need. Hugh Green Foundation alongside other partners provides funding to enable the programme.

The Malaghan Institute of Medical Research is New Zealand’s world-class independent biomedical research charity with a focus on developing breakthrough discoveries in immunology and immunotherapy. The Hugh Green Foundation has supported the Institute for over thirteen years.

Auckland City Mission – Te Tāpui Atawhai supports Aucklanders in need of appropriate housing, kai and hauora. The Hugh Green Foundation was a supporter towards the Mission’s development of HomeGround, a purpose-built thriving central city community hub, offering a wide range of services and facilities for people in greatest need.

The Hugh Green Foundation has committed multi-year support focused on enabling the service to provide high levels of tailored and personal services to all New Zealanders with incurable breast cancer and strengthen the sustainability of the operational model.

In the face of the growing mental health crisis among young people, organisations like Youth in Transition (YIT) are beacons of hope, providing vital support to those at risk of suicide. Supported by the Foundation, YIT is dedicated to offering a secure transitional pathway for youth aged 10 – 24, guiding them towards recovery and resilience.

The Education Partnership and Innovation Trust (EPIT) is on a mission to foster a thriving and equitable education landscape in Aotearoa, New Zealand. With a vision to tackle education inequity head-on, EPIT provides both a physical space and digital platform for individuals and organisations passionate about transformative educational outcomes.

The Foundation champions the Young Marists, pledging five years of support for the Young Marists Neighbours Programme, a vital social justice initiative conducting seven annual outings. This program escorts students from Young Marist network schools to remote, chiefly Māori communities across Te Urewera, the East Coast, and Northland. Here, participants directly confront the realities of systemic poverty and unemployment through the lens of Catholic Social Teaching.
