Empowering Youth: "The Journey Back to Awesome"
HGF Golf Day Donation to Youth In Transition.
In the face of the growing mental health crisis among young people, organisations like Youth in Transition (YIT) are beacons of hope, providing vital support to those at risk of suicide. Supported by the Foundation, YIT is dedicated to offering a secure transitional pathway for youth aged 10 – 24, guiding them towards recovery and resilience.
At the heart of YIT’s approach is a multidisciplinary team of mental health practitioners, comprising therapists, nurses, social workers, and occupational therapists. Together, they work closely with at-risk youth, offering personalised support tailored to their needs. However, YIT goes beyond conventional mental health services, envisioning a community-driven approach to supporting young people in distress.
The recent opening of Duke House marks a significant milestone for YIT, made possible with the support of the Foundation. This new facility not only expands YIT’s capacity to reach more young individuals but also introduces a holistic approach to healing. In addition to counselling services, Duke House offers a diverse range of activities aimed at nurturing overall wellbeing, including fitness programs, bush walks, gardening therapy, cooking classes, and art therapy. By addressing the multifaceted needs of youth, YIT aims to foster resilience and empower them to navigate life’s challenges with confidence.
The Foundation’s commitment to YIT was further demonstrated through its support of a charity golf day, which raised an impressive $58k for the organization. Beyond the financial contribution, the event served as a platform for raising awareness and sharing stories of hope and resilience. One participant from YIT’s “Journey Back to Awesome” program shared a powerful reflection on his transformative journey, emphasising the life-saving impact of the program in his battle against suicide. His testimony serves as a poignant reminder of the critical role organizations like YIT play in providing hope and healing to vulnerable youth.
As YIT continues its mission to empower young people on their journey towards recovery, the support of the Foundation and the community at large remains indispensable. Together, we can create a future where every young person feels valued, supported, and equipped to face life’s challenges with resilience and hope.
